It has recently began to feel like fall (well in Southern California anyway), so while you were dusting off your boots and fishing for your scarves, fashion designers showcased their spring 2014 ready-to-wear collections at fashion weeks all around the world. Several styles have made reoccurring appearances on the runway, leading us to predict that they will be making appearances on store’s clothing racks and possibly your closet.
Pastels
Last spring’s popular color was black and white, but spring 2014 is all about the Baby Blue, Lavender, and Lemon Chiffon. These inviting colors will brighten up your day and your closet.
Flowers
Floral patterns are quite expected for spring, so it wasn’t a shock to see it on the women’s wear runway; but it was surprising to see the floral patterns be reoccurring for the men’s RTW. Designers like Phillip Lim, Prada, Saint Laurent, and Gucci plastered floral patterns on everything from blazers and sweaters to pants and duffel bags.
Boxy Silhouettes, Bomber & Moto Jackets
While the men had a feminine touch to their collections, women’s wear designers embraced masculinity with boxy silhouettes on crop tops and dresses. Two of men’s classic jackets, the Bomber jacket and the Moto jacket, also added to the masculine look on the runway.
Low Ponytails
Whether you know it or not, fashion designers not only influence what we wear, but they have influence over the beauty industry as well. The low ponytail was a popular look for the models and it compliments the designs. It is a current hair trend for the fall, but it is predicted to carry over to the spring.
Metallic
Models strutted down the runway with eye catching, shiny fabrics. These metallics will add texture to any outfit. I personally think the metallics will look great paired with the pastels!
I will definitely need to make room in my closet for the boxy crop tops and Moto jackets. I am already thinking about what to pair them with. Which trends are you excited about?
